2nd Borne Records is an independent record shop located in historic Kinston, NC, the Birthplace of Funk.

In 2023 after finding the perfect brick-and-mortar location, a long simmering vision materialized. The building was vacant for 20 plus years. A lot of TLC is needed to restore the location to its former glory. Renovations began immediately. We started acquiring collections from an eclectic group of people. Our goal is to find and rescue records and get them back into the hands of those who need them. We strive to provide the local community of creatives with inspiring music and a place to call home.

2nd Borne Records will be:

A live venue for up-and-coming musicians to hone their skills

A home for record spinning DJ’s
